Educational blogging has become more popular in recent years as a way for students to get more engaged in material. Several educators have found a place for it in their classroom where students can express their own feelings and knowledge on topics and also communicate with others. Some
benefits of educational blogging include improvement in student creativity, self-expression, and writing skills. Educational blogging is beneficial for both students and instructors, because it is an opportunity for open communication that was previously impossible.
While reading my peers' blogs, I learned many different things about various areas of education. When reading Madison Beckman's blog about
Poverty in the Classroom, I learned about the vast impact that poverty can have on students. These students could be affected both mentally and physically because of the struggles they face that not all students experience. I also enjoyed her conclusion which stressed the

idea of encouraging all of our students because we won't always know what happens when they leave school. Sean Henry discusses
IDEA and Special Education and how students have been affected by implementation of programs like this. I learned how IDEA was very beneficial for students because it listed the rights of many people that were previously not afforded them. This program is definitely something I will look more into because of how it still affects the classroom today. In Kennedy Horne's blog, she discusses
Teacher Salaries and the controversy they cause. I learned that some people believe that teachers are overpaid, which I had never heard before. Her ideas about working outside of scheduled hours was very interesting and a good point to why teachers should be paid more. Overall, I learned so much through reading my classmates' blogs. It is always interesting to see the different passions and opinions of others who are pursuing a similar career path as you.
While I was hesitant at first, I have grown to thoroughly enjoy blogging! It is a creative outlet that is engaging while also being very productive. This was my first experience blogging, and it turned out to be much easier than I thought it would be. I think students would enjoy blogging as long as they are given some freedom on what they discuss and are able to share their own opinions. I plan on teaching younger students, but I am sure there is a way I could work blogging into my classroom. It would also be a great way to communicate with parents instead of using email which can be very impersonal. Blogging is a great source of communication and knowledge that I am glad I have experience with.
